Our People
Ask who makes a Minh Quang garment and the honest answer is: several people, not one name on a door. Cutters draft and adjust every pattern by hand. Tailors build to that pattern, each specialising in their part of the garment. Someone presses and finishes. Someone answers the phone and remembers what you ordered last time. All of it adds up to what you're wearing.
The Master
Mr Quang first picked up his tailoring shears at the age of 14, learning the craft from his father and uncle during Vietnam's 'Subsidy Economy' period. Over the decades, he has shaped Minh Quang into one of Hanoi's longest-standing tailoring houses. For him, tailoring has never been solely about cutting and sewing. It is a profession that demands both craftsmanship and character - the ability to understand people, earn their trust, and meet the expectations that come with creating something deeply personal for each client.
Head Cutter
“Cutting a jacket to look balanced on the table is the easy part. The real challenge is making sure it stays balanced when worn on a body that is always moving.”
Head Cutter
“For many of our long-time customers, it feels more like a friendship now. Sometimes they bring back an old suit and we talk about the memories behind it. That’s what I value most about this work.”
Front of House
“What I enjoy most is writing down the measurements, because that’s when I get to see how close my first impression was when the customer walked in.”
Front of House
“Some customers first come to us for a special occasion, then return year after year until it becomes a tradition.”
